Elm Field Park Doncaster

This restoration was undertaken for Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council. The project was for the restoration of the entire front ironwork screen consisting of a large pair of gates, two pillars and two pedestrian gates. The original makers and blacksmiths were discovered to be Bayliss Jones and Bayliss of Wolverhampton.

All were in very poor condition, corrosion had taken hold in many areas and due to time and the corrosion the ironwork no longer fitted or functioned correctly. We repaired with genuine wrought iron, honouring as many traditional techniques as possible. The leaf-work was replaced with new pure iron acanthus leaves gilded in 24 carat gold leaf.
